Julie A. M. Smit­ka is a Ph.D. stu­dent in the depart­ment of Cur­ricu­lum, Teach­ing and Learn­ing at OISE,University of Toron­to. She is a Junior Fel­low at Massey Col­lege and is co-edi­tor of Crit­i­cal Inter­sec­tions in Edu­ca­tion: An OISE/UT Stu­dents’ Jour­nal. Julie for­mer­ly taught in Eng­land at a non-selec­tive all-boys school and at a co-edu­ca­tion­al gram­mar school. She has been with the Peel Dis­trict School Board since 2005 and has taught at pub­lic sec­ondary and spe­cial­ized arts schools. Her Ph.D. research encom­pass­es her pas­sions for Phe­nom­e­nol­o­gy, Affect The­o­ry, Arts-Based Edu­ca­tion­al Research, A/r/tography, Embod­i­ment Stud­ies, and the Arts in Schools.
