Julie A. M. Smitka is a Ph.D. student in the department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning at OISE,University of Toronto. She is a Junior Fellow at Massey College and is co-editor of Critical Intersections in Education: An OISE/UT Students’ Journal. Julie formerly taught in England at a non-selective all-boys school and at a co-educational grammar school. She has been with the Peel District School Board since 2005 and has taught at public secondary and specialized arts schools. Her Ph.D. research encompasses her passions for Phenomenology, Affect Theory, Arts-Based Educational Research, A/r/tography, Embodiment Studies, and the Arts in Schools.
