Patrick Philips

Born and raised in Toronto, Patrick identifies as an interdisciplinary and intercurricular maker: he has had a past life in formal earth sciences before studying visual art, but has also pursued independent interests in natural history, writing, and curatorial practices. He currently supports students at OCAD University as a Writing & Learning Consultant while also developing new program models and resources. His MA studies at OISE focus on exploring the critical conversational practices of artists as valid and generative of knowledge, and he believes his lasting love of art is for its generous pedagogical potential – how art welcomes learning about and connecting many different interests and people simultaneously, provocatively, and curiously.
